Symptom:

When you start IE, you get an error message like :

Program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
After clicking "Details" on this message, it says "Iexplore caused an
invalid page fault in module shell32.dll at 017f:7fcb1946".

Solution:

Edit registry key: Hkey_Current_User/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Main

Change "Use Custom Search" value to 0 (zero)

Remove these folders: Favorites, Temporary Internet Files, and History
